PH’s 2nd Largest Container Terminal to Rise in Bauan, Batangas

The Luzon International Container Terminal (LICT) in Bauan, Batangas is shaping up to be the Philippines’ second-largest container terminal and the biggest privately funded marine terminal in the country, with an $800-million investment from ICTSI.

Led by DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon and PPA General Manager Jay Santiago, a recent inspection highlighted how the terminal will:

Create thousands of jobs
Catalyze industrial and manufacturing growth
Decongest Metro Manila and Batangas ports
Position Southern Luzon as a key trade and logistics hub

“Kapag natayo na ang port, sigurado na magsisitayuan na ang mga factory. Ibig sabihin nun: mas malaking kita, mas magandang kabuhayan para sa mga taga-Bauan lalo na,” — Sec. Vince Dizon

Project Features

  • 56.21 hectares

  • 800-meter quay length

  • Berth depths up to 18 meters (for mega ships)

  • Fully automated operations

  • Capacity: 2M+ TEUs annually

  • 8 quay cranes, 20 rail-mounted gantries

  • Eco-friendly & sustainable systems

Southern Luzon cargo throughput grew 3.89% in 2024, now accounting for nearly 16% of national volume.

The terminal’s strategic location—just 9 km from Batangas City and with access to key roadways and future expressways—will support the flow of goods across CALABARZON, the Philippines’ industrial powerhouse.

Construction begins Q3 2025, with Phase 1 completion by end-2027 and full operations by 2028.

“This project is not just about infrastructure. It’s about building a future-ready economy for Filipinos,” — Sec. Dizon
